In expert mode, you do get some more enemies on a few stages, which MIGHT mean more points. I do recommend playing on regular difficulty, not expert. This is, a lot of the time, easier said than done though if the enemies are moving, and sometimes you'll just have to settle for that regular charged shot. The best way to go about this is to shoot your CUS at the ground, or a part of terrain that an enemy is next to, causing enemies to get hit by only the splash, and be worth those double points.
